DC Church Lead Pastors Named
Pastors Michael and Heather Giroux have been appointed as Lead Pastors for The City Church DC!
After much prayer and counsel, the Girouxs have accepted the position of Lead Pastors at The City Church plant in Washington DC. They are presently pastoring a new and growing church in Newport News, Virginia, and have committed themselves to providing pastoral care and covering for both churches.
The City Life Church, Virginia was launched in January of 2006 and numbers approximately 150 people. Part of their vision included church planting and eventually had hoped to plant a new work in our nation's capital. When approached by Pastor Wendell Smith and Pastor Ken Wilde about considering taking on this new role, the Girouxs carefully weighed the responsibility while feeling the leading of the Holy Spirit, as they had received many supernatural confirmations of this step of faith.
The new Pastors will team up with Associate Pastors Rick and Jennifer Kraker and a core group of about 30 believers that are already meeting on Capital Hill on Thursday nights. This schedule will allow them to meet weekly with the DC church without changing their church schedule in Virginia. The Girouxs have been involved in The City Church DC from the first service May 18th of 2006. Pastor Michael has also preached at two of the Thursday night gatherings over the summer season.
Both Michael and Heather graduated from Portland Bible College and Heather's father, Pastor Tom Wells is an MFI pastor from Williamsburg, Virginia. Pastor Michael is also a graduate of Regent University School of Law where he received his doctorate of Jurisprudence. They served as Youth Pastors with Heather's parents for the last few years before planting their first church. They are an East coast couple with a passion for people, for the church and for the Kingdom of God. They, like us, have a special desire to see a great kingdom church raised up in the nation's capital.
